The Café

The Shore Thing Café Bistro is located at the Beach end of town, just perfect for a snack and coffee after chilling out on the beach. We have a relaxed and casual atmosphere during the day with inside and outside dining areas. Outside, we have views over the Yeppoon Main Beach making it a very desirable location.

In the evenings, the café takes on a whole different feel. Let candles set the mood and the gentle crash of waves on the shore relax you, as you enjoy a fantastic dining experience. We are BYO, so bring your favourite bottle and chill out at our place.

Location

The Shore Thing Café Bistro is in the picturesque beachside town of Yeppoon. It is located in the busy town centre, at the Beach end of town and close to a shopping plaza, many beautiful beaches, Resorts, Motels, Hotels and Accommodation units.

Yeppoon has enjoyed something of a population boom over recent years. The local population is now estimated at 11,500 and increasing at an average rate of 3% and it’s easy to see why….

The beachside town enjoys a Tropical climate with mild winters, making it a popular holiday destination. Rosslyn Bay is a short drive away and is the take off point to Great Keppel Island. Yeppoon is also close to the beautiful Byfield State Forest where you can picnic, swim in waterholes and take to the Four Wheel Drive track at Five Rocks.

The Dining Experience

We’d love you to come and start your day with some delicious favourites such as bacon and eggs, omelettes, eggs benedict, croissants and bacon and egg muffins. Of course this would be accompanied by a cup of Merlo coffee, tea or even a fresh juice or milkshake.

Our all day menu includes salads, sandwiches, burgers, quiches, kebabs, open grills and sushi, and that’s just to name a small selection. If you would like something sweeter, we also have a selection of cakes, slices and pastries to tempt you.

In the evenings, The Shore Thing takes on a different feel and we invite you to come and try for yourself what we have to offer. Bistro dining would be the best way to describe what you can expect; you can enjoy pastas, risottos, steaks and other meals with a Mediterranean influence. To keep our menu fresh and seasonal, we update it on a regular basis, so as a customer, there is always something new to try.

And of course we haven’t forgotten those who are in a hurry, or who just don’t fancy cooking!!!

We have a wide selection of take away food starting with our ‘Lunch to Godeal of a sandwich / salad with a soft drink and chocolate for $10.00! This is available from early in the morning for those who wish to drop in and pick up lunch before work.

And for those who don’t fancy cooking after a long week at work or on holiday and who aren’t up for a night out – we have a selection of take away pastas and other daily specials to make your life a lot easier. This is available on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Outside Catering

Whenever you are expecting company, whether it be for a staff meeting, a birthday celebration, a dinner party or any other type of party, the last thing you want to do is think about how to feed your guests. You would much rather be relaxing, chatting and enjoying a couple of drinks – so let us do the hard work.

We take the hassle out of entertaining and you get your time back! What a deal! Just pop in and speak to Adam or Rachael and we can arrange a menu around your needs. We can do simple hot and cold platters, right up to functions where we bring our own staff and even do the cleaning up! Whatever your needs, we are here to ensure that you and your guests have a great time.

Our Staff

We believe that friendly and efficient staff are the key to any good business and this is especially true at The Shore Thing. Adam and Rachael are the proprietors and believe in the ‘hands on’ approach to running a café. Both Adam and Rachael have extensive experience in the hospitality industry both here in Australia and in the UK.

Adam is English (please don’t hold it against us!!) and has been a chef in various hotels and restaurants for the past 17 years. Most recently he has been at The Great Western Hotel in Rockhampton and what he doesn’t know about the true art of cooking a steak just isn’t worth knowing! At The Shore Thing, he splits his time in two – out front with the customers during the day, and in the kitchen doing his thing in the evenings.

Rachael’s experience is in waitressing and hotel management. More recently she has been working in administration and bringing up three beautiful children (with Adam of course!). At The Shore Thing, Rach is the lady behind the scenes, doing the paperwork but also working at the café in the evenings and on the weekends.

We have two cooks who have been at The Shore Thing for quite a while and provide our customers with meals that keep them coming back for more!

The ‘faces out front’ are few and this allows the customers and staff to build a rapport as they get to know each other with each visit. Our main waitress has been at The Shore Thing since she was just 14, and she has a great relationship with our regular clientele and knows just how to make a fantastic coffee!! What more could you ask for!!

So come in to The Shore Thing - we look forward to making your day with tasty food, delicious drinks, and warm, friendly service.
